Work-Place Learning: Building Your Future Workforce

At the recent NEWS (North East Women in STEM) event, the focus was on how organisations can grow talent through work-based learning routes.

We heard from Kim Smith from the North East Combined Authority, who shared information on the support available to employers in taking on an individual via a T Level, Apprenticeship, or Higher Technical Qualification route.

Sally Forsyth from Mesma, and Gemma Taylor from South Tyneside & Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust then shared their experiences of growing their organisations in this way; lessons learned and the organisational benefits of taking this route.

The call to action for all CyberFirst and STEM Ambassadors was clear; to raise awareness of technical education pathways with schools and young people, and to raise awareness of the benefits of offering T levels and apprenticeships within your own organisation.

Read Kim Smith’s post here, which features an image of Sally Forsyth from Mesma talking about their experiences of apprenticeships.

And if you would like to hear more about this, the next Cyber Sips event will feature speakers sharing their insights and experiences on work-placed learning.
