CyberNorth News: A report from the Annual Cyber Intelligence Alliance and CyberWhite Event

A report from the annual Cyber Intelligence Alliance and CyberWhite event by Andrew Pounder:

Despite my initial mistake of deciding to hike to Ramside Hall from Durham Railway Station, after an hour’s brisk exercise, I still made it to this flagship CIA all-day conference with time to spare and mingle before the opening remarks.

This was a tremendously successful day of cyber security presentations, workshops and networking with colleagues within the region’s cyber community.

Lots of friendly faces hosted stands in the exhibition hall, including RTC North’s STEM team, FAT32, and other cyber security vendors.  Cyber White were supporting the local RNLI charity and there were opportunities to buy raffle tickets for donated prizes at the end of the day.

The morning keynote presentation was by RiskRecon (a Mastercard company) on the topic of “Supply Chain Risk Management”, followed by two breakout workshop sessions hosted by SecPod and Binarly

After a lovely buffet lunch, there was a panel session discussion on “Threats posed by a third-party supply chain”. Then the morning workshops were repeated, so that everyone had the chance to attend both.

The afternoon presentation was given by Cyber White’s own David Horn, who described A “Day in the life of a CISO”.

Cyber White’s Matt Hewison then drew the conference to a close and took charge of the RNLI raffle draws and drinks reception.

This was a well-attended event, with many discussion points addressed and new industry contacts made.  Well done Cyber White and C.I.A. and I look forward to the next one!
